” Inspired by the theme of Mestizos (a Mexican word for a mix of cultures), students in print, weave, knit, stitch and digital textiles and concepts to produce ideas for fabrics and product innovations through the development of colour, surface and/or texture and form. The project is in association with the Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico whose textile and fashion students are working on a simultaneous project. “
The area I choose to work on was the Merge of Aztecs, Mayans and Olmecs.
The finals designs are the result of this fusion. Individual elements that represents each civilisation but when together shows a unique composition, a fourth tribe.
Exhibited at the 'Made in Mexico. The Rebozo in Art' exhibition, Fashion and Textile Museum in June 2014.
